Technique - Overhand Knot

The "overhand knot" is a common way of tying the ends of thread when hand sewing. It is also useful for keeping threads grouped, like when making a braid, or for tying off weaving warp threads for fringe. It is often permanent or very difficult to untie, and can be used to keep yarns and strings from unraveling. It is also known as a "reef knot" or a "fisherman's knot."
