In the genre of knitting patterns there are a lot that have been labeled a “chevron layette” since people started writing down and naming patterns. This one is a very open lace with nice vertical lines. It only has one pattern row (you purl the opposite side) so it’s a pretty pattern that doesn’t require a lot of brain power.

Row 1: k2tog, yo, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k2tog tbl, yo, k2tog tbl
Row 2: purl
k2tog = knit two stitches together
yo = yarn over to make one stitch
k2tog tbl = knit two stitches together through the back of the loop
k1 = knit one stitch
