Make This - Sweet Stripes Pendant

Make this yummy pendant with dollhouse fake foods!

Supplies and Equipment:

  • 2" heart shaped pendant base (this is white acrylic, wood painted white would also work)
  • dollhouse scale baked goods
  • rhinestones
  • masking tape
  • paint that sticks to acrylic - this is pink nail polish
  • a utility or exacto knife
  • clear glue
  • clear glaze
  • a clear ruler

Tear a piece of masking tape long enough to go across the heart at an angle.  Stick it down to a surface you can cut on (this is a self healing cutting mat).

Using the clear ruler and a very careful hand with the utility knife, cut the masking tape into 1/8" strips.  If the blade isn't sharp enough it will tear the tape instead of cutting it.

Place strips of tape across the heart at an angle.

Paint over the heart with a clear paint or glue (the clear glue you're using otherwise or clear nailpolish will do the job.)  Let dry completely.

Paint the unmasked areas with the pink paint.  Let dry, coat again if necessary.

Use the knife to very carefully cut along the edges of the masking tape.  You don't need pressure here, just enough to break the connection to the tape.

Peel the masking tape off slowly and carefully.  If it's not coming off cleanly try scoring it again.

Use the clear glue to stick your faux baked goods in place. Let dry completely. If you have any flaws in the edges of your stripes from peeling the masking up use the food or rhinestones to hide them!

Glue some rhinestones in around the edges of the foods.  Let dry overnight.

Apply a clear glaze coat to the pendant, being careful not to glaze the food.  If your food has any kind of special finish (like the sugar on the donuts) the glaze will obliterate it.  Let harden completely before turning it into jewelry.
