Great looking project.
Love the simple look of it! Thanks a lot for the thorough tutorial!
Very nice. What’s the cloth tape for?
Hi Zach, The cloth tape is to stabilize the seam. It reduces how much the seam could stretch over time.
Thanks for the tutorial. It inspired me to get tools for this project.
Where do you buy your leather? I’m having trouble finding a good source.
I purchase a lot of my leather from higher end fabric stores or large fabric warehouses in the United States (not sure how things are outside the US). Some fabric store chains in the US have small pieces of leather for sale that work for wallets and small bags. A quick online search for “leather hides” brought up many places where you can purchase leather online. Stores that specialize in upholstery fabrics may also carry leather.
Is there any way I can get the pattern that you used?
I like your thoroughness, I would like to have a zippered top and a lining with divisions– any way you could upgrade your design to include a top zipper and at least a basic lining? Thanks.
Thanks for sharing such a lovely bag here. Liked it a lot.
thank you for the tutorial! may I ask for the dimensions you used?
I have a telegram channel with many bag patterns…join my free channel that is about sewing bag patterns
WOW this tote is just what I am looking to make!
I would love the pattern or any info you can give me!
Beautiful bag, Carly. Thank you for sharing. Which measurements did you used for the bag? I really love the proportion!
I just wanted to turn everyone on to a great leather supplier out of NYC. They are called District Leathers. Their website is http://www.districtleathers.com and they are super friendly and helpful. They carry all types of leather that you can take out right from their showroom on 263 West 38th St. (15th floor) in NYC. No appointment necessary.
