Autumn is on it’s way and there’s a chill in the air in Chicago. One of the easiest ways to keep a cold weather wardrobe fresh is with scarves. This is a somewhat challenging lace knitting pattern, but it’s worth the effort. There’s more info about yarn, needle size and how to use the chart after the cut.
This was knit in Pattons Grace, 100% mercerized cotton using US size 6 needles. I’ve been loving cottons for lace patterns, they seem to really pop. This is color 62027, but I’m not totally sure they make it anymore. Any “Light 3” yarn should give you a similar effect, especially if it’s not terribly fluffy. The scarf shown is two pattern repeats wide. You’ll want one 150 yard or so skein for a button up neck warmer, but for a respectable scarf you’ll probably need around 450 yards. It’s definitely worth the effort to block this one – it was heavily rippled when I finished it. I saturated it with water and laid it out flat on a tea towel to dry.
