Make This:

Lace Covered Bangle

Wrap crisp white lace over a pop colored bangle for an easy to wear accessory. You can use store bought lace or make your own (free knitting pattern included!)

I originally planned to go out, casually buy some lace and make this bracelet. But, of course I couldn’t find just the right lace, so I eventually decided to knit lace for the project. I love how it turned out but I’m sure it would have been just as pretty with store bought lace!

Supplies and Equipment:

plain wood bangle (this is from diybangles.com)
– paint – I love this Martha Stewart craft paint in “Marmalade”
– dull needle

– white lace and thread
OR
– size 10 crochet cotton
– size 2 (US) double pointed knitting needles

Paint the bangle.

Knit the lace (skip this if you’re using store bought lace!)

I used 12 pattern repeats with worked through 3 times with size 2 needles, but your bracelet and knitting gauge will vary. Swatch the pattern, check the size and then knit your lace. This is a great project if you’re testing the waters on lace knitting.

Leave long tails for sewing the lace over the bangle.

Chevron Lace Pattern

even count rows are purled if knitting flat or knitted if knitting in the round
m1= yarn over to make 1

Row 1: m1, k3, slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over, k3, m1, k1
Row 3: k1, m1, k2, slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over, k2, m1, k2

Row 7: k3, m1, slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over, m1, k4

Sew the lace into a loop if it isn’t already. Stitch the lace on with wide zig-zags through the inside of the bangle.

Tie off and weave in tails.

That’s it!
